Acme Panini

Christine | Oct 13, 200307:50 PM

I'm trying to figure out where I can purchase the bread they use for grilled panini at Caffe 817. It's made by Acme but the people who run the Acme outpost at the Ferry Bldg believed it was made only for restaurants. Are there any bakeries where I could pick up enough for 20 people on short notice (this week!)without having to order it through a restaurant or do a special order through Acme?

And does anyone know what this kind of bread is called? It's not a regular loaf bread or focaccia. It's thin with crusts on top and bottom, slightly chewy. Comes out of the panini press with ridges.

Thanks for any suggestions! Hoping someone knows what I'm talking about.
