The Brazilian bean fritters acaraje (using feijao fradinho or black eyed peas) are more available in the Boston area than folks think, but generally only at nightclubs, church events, by catering, and festivals. There also used to be a Bahian restaurant in Union Square Somerville (Axe Brazil, a buffet Bahia Grill did offer some bahian dishes too).
However, I recently noticed in a local Brazilian paper that Mainha in Avon might be serving these as a regular menu item which is something new. Beyond this and the fact they also offer "Italian" food and a mention of churrasco in a Brazilian phone guide, I don't know anything else about the restaurant. Anybody know anything more about the restaurant or want to try acaraje with vatapa and pimenta malagueta (you should ask what sauces are available as traditionally there are up to 4-5 things you can stuff it with)?
