We were in Monterey last Sunday and wanted to pick up some smoked fish from the wharf. Against our better instincts, we decided to have lunch there. We heard that Abalonetti Seafood had new owners, so we gave it a try. BIG mistake. Both our lunches were horrible. My husband ordered the sand dabs and I the calamari since I was told it was a speciality. The chef must have the same problems I often have with sand dabs sticking to the pan. These were served all falling apart and in a heap on the plate. My calamari was soggy and lacked any discernible flavor.

An expensive lesson learned...
