So have been strolling though threads the last few days as well as encountering my babble from four years ago. Happy to announce that this trip will be our first in 20 years as just a couple!! And while I really appreciate the work that Parnassien and John Talbot put in here, we are far from foodies. Atmosphere and vibe are almost as important as the food .... plus we are easy as I could eat steak frites all seven nights and my wife is content with a nice glass of wine and some cheese. :)
We have a delightful Airbnb basically at the Étienne Marcel metro stop so easy access to the Marais as well as rue Montorgueil. So here goes on thoughts:
- pastries at Pralus/coffee at Lapeyronie
- Cafe Loustic
- Holybelly 5
Am sure we will find other spots as we investigate the neighborhood ....
Have kinda scoped this out depending on where we will be headed that day so ....
Place des Voyages ..... Les Philosphes
Luxembourg Gardens .... La Cuisine de Philipe
Saint Germain ..... Lipp just for kicks
Marais .... maybe Breizh Cafe?
Close to home ..... Au Pied de Cochon
Tying some to cocktail bars so here goes
Candelaria ..... Chez Jenny
Candelaria is my wife's middle name so this is a must! And it looks cool .... on Chez Jenny we live in Texas and have to deal with a lot of bs so I'm just going to not concern us with the political stuff here .... it looks fun and what we like ... but open to other ideas in the haut Marais
No Entry .... Pink Mamma
We were thinking of going here Monday night so hopefully the wait isn't too bad ... another example of atmosphere wining as we HAVE to go to that bar! And a quick pasta escape as certainly won't be eating their steak .... :)
Le 153 ..... Le Taxi June ... this is already booked
Other thoughts ....
Aux Bons Crus .... pretty sure this is our Wed option
Au Petit Fer à Cheval
Lastly, we have friends coming in from Holland and Berlin on the weekend so will need to coordinate with them - but knowing them they too will just want a fun casual place with good food and good service.
Any suggestions most welcome!
