6 hours in L.A.

Me, my brother and a friend are going to have about 6 hrs to kill in LA on our way to vacation in Australia. We are going to be at LAX, but have access to a car so transportation is not an issue. None of us have spent much time in LA or tried any of the staple foods. I've been put in charge of finding somewhere to eat, and was hoping some of you hounds would have some recommendations. I personally have never been to LA so I don't even know where to start. We want something fun, and not to expensive (under $20). Doesnt neccisarily have to be a long sitdown meal. We are pretty adventurous eaters and generally like ethnic foods. We are from Michigan and would love to try something different that we get here. We will be there on a Monday afternoon/early evening if that makes a difference.

One thing I've heard a lot of good things about is "Asian (Korean?) barbecue", but I know nothing about it.

Any ideas would be appreciated, thanks!
