$5.89 deli sandwich at Lucca Ravioli Co. (Mission District, San Francisco)

Melanie Wong | Dec 17, 201411:39 PM     8

The affable counterman told me this is an old-style deli sandwich. Just meat and cheese on a roll, and the option of a smear of pesto sauce. A good deal at the price of $5.89.

Pros:
Good quality lunch meats (I chose Columbus salami and mortadella)
Sliced to order
Very thin slices
Rippled rather than straight stacked layers
Pesto

Cons:
Mediocre ciabatta (maybe other bread choices are better)
Too much bread in proportion
No vegetation
Dry

Packets of mustard and mayo are offered on the side and it needed the mayonnaise. If I'd been on my way home, I would have added a splash of olive oil to moisten the bread.
