5 Ninths or Biltmore Room: Are either conversation friendly?

Guy | Aug 10, 2004 10:10 AM

Going out to dinner with my folks and some family friends in 2 weeks and i'm looking for an interesting place with solid food but is still conversation friendly. We tend to like ethnic food but my folks hate when places are extremely loud. I've been to Biltmore Room before and enjoyed it but that was when it first opened and i fear that the bar area might have taken over by now. I've had drinks at 5 Ninths but that was late night on a rainy eve so it was dead, making me unsure on how it is on a normal night. Any other suggestions for places in the west village/chelsea would also be helpful. Recently i've heard about Medina and Tia Pol (both tapas style) and i'm curious to know if anybody has some feedback
