I was a huge fan of Restaurant 4580 when they first opened. I then turned into just a fan as they went through some chef changes which also affected the menu. But, I believe that now they are back in full swing and if anyone hasn't been there for awhile, you owe it yourself to give them another try.
Dinner last night was terrific. The menu has changed with a nice selection of small plates as well as main courses. My wife commented about how someone finally got a vegetarian plate right - you could choose to combine any of the side dishes into your own creation. She's not a vegetarian (or Vegan or Andromedan) but often goes that route. Vegie, that is.
We started with tzatziki with pita which turned out to be a crisp lettuce salad with a light refreshing touch of tzatziki as a dressing surrounding by freshly baked pita wedges. A bowl of olives was also ordered as an accompaniment.
As a main course my wife opted for my self titled "Antithesis of Boulder" combo of parmesan frites with a side of truffle oil and an order of baked brie crostini. I chose the lamb shank special which had tender meat that fell off the bone by just looking at it. It was surrounded by a medley of fresh vegies and perfectly executed gnocchi.
Washing all this down was a reasonably price bottle of Belle Pente Pinot Noir from Oregon. They have a nice wine list with some not so typical bottles that are pretty reasonably priced but could use a few more selections in the under $30 range.
Dessert was a simple dish of Glacier chocolate cinnamon ice cream. All in all, a great experience and we'll be increasing our frequency.
