My totally unchowhound dad (middle of the road Italian American is his idea of a fine meal.) has got the very gernerous notion in his head that he would like to take my wife and I to the Four Seasons for my wife's birthday. My wife's not a huge fan of being overly fussed over in a restaurant and prefers the Danny Meyer style by far.
My question is should we absolutey insist that we go somewhere else? Is the food good enough to warrant the expense even though my wife doesn't like that kind of service. It does fall under the timeframe of father's day as well so there is a certain amount of obligation to his wishes as well.
