After 3pm at Mon Kiang, SF

This one's from my mother, who has discovered the after 3pm discount at Mon Kiang on Broadway in SF Chinatown. It doesn't apply to all the dim sum and seems to vary day by day. After 3pm certain dim sum are discounted to 3 for $1. Her favorite items purchased at discount are the jin dui (fried sesame balls filled with sweet bean paste), baked char siu bao, and no mai chi (coconut coated filled mochi balls). She describes the no mai chi as being larger than most, chewy and not too wet with a good amount of coconut and ground nuts in the filling. She likes the jin dui and char siu bao as much as TC Pastry's, enough that she will pay full price for them when they're not on mark down.

For more about what's good at Mon Kiang, check Felice's recommendations at
