2941 Disappointment

My husband and I recently had dinner at 2941 to celebrate his birthday. We originally had reservations to go there for my birthday, but that was in September and they lost power due to Hurricane Isabel and so were closed. They made no attempt to contact us then to let us know they were closed, and offered no apology for not doing so. Despite this, I was anxious to try the restaurant, so I made reservations for my husband's birthday. I have no complaints about the food, but our waiter was awful. He seemed determined to spend as little time as possible at our table. He took our drink order, and then returned 10 minutes later, without the drinks to take our appetizer order. The drinks came a few minutes later. After ordering our entrees, we asked him for a wine suggestion and he said he'd be right back. He walked away and we assumed he was going to send over a sommelier. Instead he came back 10 minutes later and gave us 2 suggestions, both rather pricey. We hestitated and he then said, "I'll be back in a minute" and left us for another 5-10 minutes. When he finally came back, we ordered one of the bottles he suggested, just to save time! The food was wonderful, though. With appetizers, drinks and dessert, our bill came to over $200. We have no problem spending that much at upscale restaurants, but we have never had such bad service at an expensive restaurant. Although we enjoyed the food, and live fairly close to 2941, I am not sure I would ever go back.
