Went to NYC to see the Lieutenant of Inishmore Saturday with wife and sil. Got off the bus at 2, starved, and went to Saigon Banh Mi for the 2d time. Loved it again. Went to Bouley's for the tasting menu in the red room at 6. The most beautiful dining room I've ever been in, loved the Chiang Mai lobster and the squab with foie gras and the chocolate souffle. Perfect service. Sunday morning I had a forgettable bagel at the hotel, then headed over to the Gem Spa for an egg cream, my wife's first. She was enthralled. Met 4 friends at the bar at Otto for lunch. Dennis, the incredible bartender, insisted on ordering for us, an incredible array of salumi, Italian-style veggies, seafood, pasta and pizza, topped off with gelati. Everything was wonderful but the parmesan souffle was out of this world. My Manhattan buddy (Midtown West) wanted to know how I find all these great places to eat. Left Manhattan at 2:30. Thanks chowhounds, most of these recs were from you guys. Quite a whirlwind 24 hours.
