222 Club

A date took me to the 222 Club, 222 Hyde st. last week for some tapas and wine. What a great a choice, we ordered 3 different plates to nibble on:

Cheese plate: an exotic mix of various
Spanish cheeses that I cannot name
because I forgot. Mixed with
the Spanish wine I was drinking, my
mouth was melting.

Sauteed gambas: Fresh shirmp
sauteed in an EXCELLENT spicy tomato
sauce. Just enough spice not
to over-power the juicy shrimp.

Spanish Chorizo in Red wine sauce:
Wonderful dish of Spanish sausages
sauteed in a rich red wine sauce;
sounds heavy but it wasn't.

Only complaint; menu somewhat limited, but when you see the improvised kitchen you will realize why.

The ambient was great; in a previous post, I mentioned that it reminds me of the Mission in the early days of gentrification; which is what is happening to the TL anyways.

I really recommend this place for romantic encounters; the dim lighting and brick walls, low noise, mixed with the wine and cheese and other savory dishes will flood your body with endorphins.
