Hung out in wonderful Park Slope yesterday and have some quick comments about 2 great little places:
200 Fifth. Wonderful bar/restaurant. I had the 6-beer sampler, which was quite nice since the bar has about 50 beers on tap (12 or so by the bottle). The Arrogant Bastard and Blue Point (Long Island) were my favorites. The wings were pretty good, the penne a la vodka was surprisingly very good, and the cajun burger with bleu cheese was top notch. The staff was super friendly (my half swiss, irish and italian waiter was a joy). Overall, nice place, good food, very reasonable, great beer selestion. Excellent place.
Bierkraft - gourmet food shop. Beers (600) and cheese (200) are the main events. While I did not sample the cheeses, I purchased some wonderful beligan, american, and montreal beers, all very nicely priced at around $3 per bottle. The owner were immensely friendly, and tremendously helpful. They knew their stuff - beer or otherwise. I ended up taking home some little goodies - great marshmallow, brooklyn gum, wasabi suace, grapeseed oil. I could have bought out the store, but I showed some retraint (on this trip). Also, there are beer tastings, perhaps weekly. www.bierkraft.com
Overall, another great day in Brooklyn.
