2 great new places in near SF MOMA

1. Mehfil Indian Restaurant on Second and Folsom.

Excellent Indian food, good prices, excellent service. Excellent selection of entrees, desserts, and breads. Great flavors. And they deliver...

I guess I should elaborate more, but just trust me, this place rocks.

2. SOMA Bistro on Third near Folsom. Next to Club One.

This place is unfortunately located in a notorious restaurant graveyard location. I swear, since I've lived in the city I've seen a minimum of 4 different restaurants come and go in the same location.

I really hope that doesn't happen to SB. Honestly, I wasn't all that excited about going, but my neighbor wanted to take my partner and I out for dinner, so we said "sure, what the heck". Besides, it was a quick walk over from where we live.

By the time we were finished eating, I kept repeating over and over "Wow! This is so much like Monks (aka Cafe Monk, RIP)" (Explanation: not the food per say, but the overall "feel"). The food is Cal-Asian fusion with a strong Japanese influence. They have a wide assortment of Korean and Japanese booze (yay!) and the prices are insanely cheap! The food was way too tasty and the plating was beautiful. Luckily (?), there wasn't many people in there (this was last Tuesday night at around 7:30 PM) and we had excellent service. The chef even brought us some free appetizers and later came to ask us what we thought.

Loved it.
