2 days from Chicago

littleworm | Feb 8, 201509:35 AM     9

We're looking for recs on great bbq and Mexican in San Antonio. We have 2 days and nights. We're staying in the River Walk area. We won't have a car, but will take a taxi for great food.
I saw that Taco Taco won best of for Mexican so I was thinking of breakfast or lunch there. Paloma won as well, should we go to these two for Mexican? I have no ideas for bbq.
My mom (81) can be a little fussy about wanting a nice atmosphere which I think may limit our choices.
We want great food that is more southern or Texas style (not found in Chicago). Any suggestions? Thank you
