I wouldn't call myself a 'hound' more of a dog...My wife, my 10 month old and me have been in NO since early Saturday. So far so good, I've been monitoring the board in preparation for the trip for a while now, but I have the little dude in tow so that has been a mitigating factor. Here's what we've had so far:

Saturday Lunch: Felix's. Acme was busy and with the little guy a wait wasn't an Felix's it was. I had 1/2 doz. oysters: nice, no grit or mud. I've got nothing to compare them to (oysters aren't real big in central illinois), but with the hot sauce they were pretty good. The Gumbo was 'ok' a bit over-priced for what you get, my wife had the shrimp po-boy which she gave a thumbs up to.

Dinner Saturday night was at the Bourbon House. A short background here--my wife is here with her boss for a club-manager convention, he has pretty extensive experience in foodservice and has eaten well across the country. That being said, he raved about the 'redfish on the halfshell'. I had the gumbo which was much better than Felix's and the Shrimp Creole which was OK. They had a high chair for CJ who handled dinner very well. The service was excellent, younger waiters than I'm used to, but very polite. The Tangerine Gelato was excellent as well.

Lunch Sunday was at Deanies and was very good. My wife had a seafood boil pizza which she liked very much and I had gumbo (of course) and the shrimp po-boy both of which were excellent, the gumbo probably wasn't as good as the Bourbon House's, but still very good.

Dinner Sunday night was at 'The Corner' near Jackson square. My wife had the Mufuletta which she thought was strange and good at the same time I had the Jambalaya which was much differnet than I've had elsewhere----very dark rice, sausage and chicken accented with a tomato sauce----very nice.

We have dinner plans for the Redfish Grill Monday and Mr. B's on Tuesday......I'll update later.
