I love this board, and as a "stagiare" living in Paris have been avidly following your great advice to try and find the best secrets. Thank you for all of your help. I was wondering if any of you lived/worked near the Charonne metro stop, and knew of small boulangeries/patisseries/butcher shops to recommend. I've heard this area is one of the most wonderful in Paris for its restaurant and food scene, and am happily enjoying the markets around here for cooking with my roommate in our little apartment! I would also love to try other suggestions outside of my neighborhood. The only thing I really can't do is truly expensive Michelin level meals, which is why I have been so appreciative of some of the budget threads on this board.
The other question was, if you were on a student budget but wanted to travel on a weekend for truly authentic French food outside of Paris, where would you go? Bordeaux? Lyon? or a some little country town where hopefully you could recruit a French grandmother to make you a feast? :) Thanks again!
