SO.....it seem that the fumes from the $7 hot dogs at the new continental have clouded someones judgement in the Starr restaurant organization that they have decide to put a $100 cheesesteak on the menu of the new Barclay steakhouse. Apparently (from the Inquirer) this concoction is to be made from Kobe beef foie gras and truffles...not to mention the "homemade" Brioche buns.
Its very odd that a supposedly "high end" restaurant is using the term "homemade" like anyone actually makes Brioche at home...how funny. they really must think the public is stupid.
I suppose it is the fact that Craig Laban waxed poetic about the "PHILADELPHIA CHEESESKATE" at striped bass that they have decided to get cute with a $100 sandwich.
You really have to wonder about a food critic who has no problem with serving Skate with Braised short ribs, parmesan cheese and hot sauce in the middle of July.
BUT......back to my point
does anyone else think this is waste of
I love Johns cheesesteaks at 9 bucks, doesnt get better than that.
Its like the famous New York omelette that was slathered with $1000 of Osetra caviar.
or that Horrible hamburger for $36 at DB Bistro Moderne
I cant wait to see what else is on the menu at the barclay....
Maybe Sangria made with Romanee Conti
Michael Klein, say it really aint so.....
