10 Free Desserts

What does it mean, when a restaurant gives you 10 free desserts? It means that they messed up somewhere along the line and they are apologizing for a gaff in service, food, reservation or another area and want you to come back and forget this occurance happened.

Well, my party of six last Saturday at Craft in Century City went through the ringer in this trendy upscale place. We walked in on time for our 8:15 reservation and we were seated immediatley at a great table in the main dining room. The place was packed and the decor was lovely. We were all ready for a feast. Then the GAFF.

After our drinks were served, it took 45 minutes for a waiter to come by and take our dinner order. Then 1 hour wait for our first course (consisting mostly of salads). After some grumbling and a stern waring from one of our more assertive diners, the service picked up a little. The manager came over to our table and apologized and offered free deserts. The deserts came, and came and came. 10 in all. It was a very nice gesture, but we were all put off by this point and it was unanomous, none of us was coming back. Nice try Craft, but a totally bad experience.
