We are going to Italy for 10 days with our teens - 18, 15, 14. We are a "foodie" family and trying to stick to a food budget of 300 euros/day. We are looking for authentic, local trattorias, house wine, fun, animated/lively atmospheres. One big meal a day
Here's what we have so far - need some help!
Day 1 - Arrive FCO w/3:30-6:30 tour of Vatican - staying in Apartment near Vatican City
- Advice for quick, inexpensive lunch - pizza near Vatican
- dinner reserved at Ricollio at 9:30 - is this too late after all night travel and Vatican Tour?
Day 2 - Heavy lunch near Colisseum - after our 12:30 tour - recommendations? We are planning on doing the Italy Tour at Night just stopping for quick bites and drinks
Day 3 - Looking for good breakfast spot/bakery - in Trastevere. We then head out at 12:30 pm for Pisa - Luminaria Celebration that night - any advice? Are there many food vendors in the festival like setting?
Day 4 - Heading to Lucca - best advice for dinner? Ristorante Giglio? Da Francesco, Gigi?
Day 5 - Day Trip - Cinque Terre - best advice for big lunch? Any village except Corniglia
Day 6 - Day Trip - Via Reggio - best advice for happy hour late lunch/early dinner
Day 7 - Tuscany Tour w/private driver to wineries - gastro/wine tour
Day 8 - Booked the evening Cicceti Tour - 5-6 local "off the beaten path" restaurants for tastings
Day 9 - Completely open for suggestions - want a very lively experience
Day 10 - Embarking on Greek Isle Cruise
Any and all suggestions appreciated and recommended. This is my first post - on a blog like this ever - so please be kind to me :)
