We recently went with friends to 1 North Belmont for dinner. This was our second experience with this restaurant and, most assurdly, our last.
Our first experience was shortly after the restaurant opened so one might expect something less than perfection. While the food was quite acceptable, the service left much to be desired. The staff was very stiff and uncertain, almost to the point of being rude.
Our second experience was a disaster! While the staff had improved, two of the four hor d'oeuvres (Oxtail Clair aux Feuille D'Or)were, at best, marginal. It was hardly more than a broth with no flavor and served luke warm. The two ladies, for the entree, had Tournedos Bearnaise. We am still astounded by the fact the beef was tasteless, dry, and appeared to have been baked as opposed to grilled. When the waiter took the uneaten dish away, we asked to speak to the chef/owner. A second request, some 15 minutes later, finally resulted in the chef/owner making an appearance at our table.
While our complaint was finally handled professionally, the evening was a total disaster. There are too many excellent restaurants in the Richmond area to ever again consider such high priced mediocracy.
