Candied Grapefruit Zest looks similar to gummy worms, but they're better because they're homemade, with no preservatives or whatnot. There are only three ingredients in the recipe: three grapefruits, eight cups of sugar, and water. The instructions are a little lengthier, but it's not too tricky. You just need to watch and stir the sugar water containing the grapefruit zest for at least 40 minutes. That process takes some of the bitterness out of the pith, and saturates it with simple syrup. To make a more colorful array, you could also use lemons, limes, and oranges.
