Pufferfish, also known as fugu, is a Japanese treasure. Prepared as sashimi by the most skilled of sushi chefs, the super poisonous fish (that swells into a spiky balloon when threatened) is sliced, very carefully diced, and served paper-thin in the shape of a chrysanthemum. While the taste is said to be bland, Japanese care more about its silky-smooth texture. Saying an "Our Father" before dining is absolutely necessary, no matter your beliefs.
