First manufactured in Atlanta in 1886, Coca-Cola has grown from locally sold nerve tonic to nationally popular soda fountain treat to globally dominant brand now purchased all over the world, at an astonishing rate of 1.9 billion servings per day. The classic red and white logo is reported to be recognized by 94% of the entire world's population, which is equal parts impressive and unnerving. The packaging has come a long way since Coke's inception, too, of course, from fairly unremarkable glass bottles in the beginning to a trademarked curvy-sided vessel, and endless iterations in plastic and aluminum with lots of different logo variations and special promotional printings over the years.
