You won’t find better blueberry pancakes than the ones at Kevin’s in Red Hook, promises the_state. Big, nicely crisp, and somehow both fluffy and dense, they blow away the competition elsewhere around Brooklyn. Bacon comes perfectly crisp too, he adds.
Other winners include omelets, hamburgers, seafood stew, corn-flake-crusted challah French toast, and an eggs Benedict variation made with smoked trout, dubbed the Adirondack. Coffee is noteworthy, made with beans from the much-praised Stumptown. Kevin’s serves dinner, too, but no one’s reported back on that experience yet on the boards.
Beyond the food, hounds are taking to the warm vibe, sweet service, and gentle prices (topping out at $10 for brunch, $19 for dinner). “This is really a great, great little place,” sums up the_state.
