Basic barbecue, Portuguese style, is the specialty at the Woodburning Pit, a newcomer in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn. Meats are done to a pleasing smoky char, and served with fries and garlicky rice. Pork ribs transported Mike R. back to a slaughterhouse in Bairrada.

Prices are reasonable and portions enormous, says zipit. Mike, who’s been waiting years for a place like this to come along, would tweak the short menu, perhaps adding grilled sardines, a bacalhau (salt cod) dish, and whole spit-roasted pig. But, he adds, “I’ll take it as is right now.”
