Nope, not the Georgia of peach trees, grits, and Gone with the Wind; this is the Georgia south of Russia, east of the Black Sea, and north of Turkey, and its cuisine is getting a whole lot of attention in this revived Chowhound thread.

A few years ago a hound returned from Russia seeking Georgian specialties, and in the last couple of weeks user Joe MacBu kindly provided translations of many items one might find on a menu, from khachapuri (cheese bread) to Shemtsvari Kalmakhi (grilled trout). Some of that region’s hefty stews and roasts sound fit for sweater weather, to which we have no objection. If you have a favorite Georgian haunt in Brighton Beach or elsewhere, do please weigh in. (That khachapuri sounds sooo good!)
