If it’s December, it’s stollen season at Momofuku Milk Bar. Momo’s take on this sweet German bread is scrumptious and pretty traditional, says hungrycomposer, but the loaf is uncommonly light and moist and the fruit-to-bread ratio deliciously high. “During the holidays I’m more of a latke maker than a stollen eater,” hungrycomposer says, “but this could convert me.”

This year, Momofuku is offering stollen not at its downtown or Midtown bakeries but only at the Union Square Holiday Market. Also for sale there are cookies (peppermint-cornflake-marshmallow-chocolate chip, for example) and noncomestibles like aprons and tote bags. Just a few shopping days left—the seasonal market closes December 24.
