I’ve been a vagabond for much of the past decade, moving every couple of years, and to facilitate this I have kept my housewares to a minimum. But now that I’ve been at CHOW and in San Francisco for more than three years, I’ve made a concerted effort to grow my tableware collection so my dinner parties look less haphazard. Lately, I’ve been eyeing this beauteous porcelain shell serving bowl by Michael Aram. Its organic shape and simplicity get me daydreaming about filling it with steamed shellfish or a big salad, or just setting it out on my dinner table as a reminder of the collection I’ve yet to build.
