For those looking for another homey Taiwanese joint to add to their regular rotation, StriperGuy has a suggestion: Wonder Cafe, a mom-and-daughters joint that’s newish in the Watertown Square neighborhood.
“Everything was superb,” raves StriperGuy. Beef with sour mustard greens on rice was “subtle, complex, and super tasty. Portions were VERY generous.” And StriperGuy walked out having had the beef, garlic asparagus, and garlic eggplant for $27.
Intrigued by this recommendation, PinchOfSalt visited and had a great scallion pancake: “nice and crispy, not at all greasy, and made from scratch,” and beef with ginger and scallions: “It surprised us with quite a bit of exquisitely evenly sliced onions in the mix and less ginger than expected, but the beef, oh the beef! So tender and subtly flavored. I will be back.”
