The Bedford has gotten buzz for its farm-to-table ethos, but what came to piegirl74‘s table from the sea was especially fine. Fritto misto of squid, scallops, green beans, zucchini, and lemon was divine: lightly breaded and perfectly fried. Mussels with chorizo and paprika were both spicy and soothing, and accompanied by great grilled bread.
A half chicken came out juicy and crispy, served with mashed potatoes and show-stopping greens (“I don’t know what they did to these greens,” mused piegirl’s fiancé, “but they are unbelievable”). On the house was a terrific dish of fresh corn, rolled in paprika and ricotta salata. Dessert was a seasonal treat: a blueberry galette, delicious and barely sweetened. “Perfect end,” piegirl writes. “This place is a gem!”
