Over the holiday break, I tried making the Roquefort-and-pear eggnog that was created by Tailor bartender Eben Freeman, featured in the New York Times Magazine. It was a salad-dressing-esque nog that was just OK. A few days later, I took one of the ingredients, pear brandy—I used Aqua Perfecta pear liqueur, a new offering from artisanal distillery St. George Spirits—and made a showcase cocktail for it, with about half a lime, a handful of muddled mint, and roughly a teaspoon of sugar. It was the pear-iest, most delicious drink I had all winter. Splurge on this liqueur and take it for a test drive with your own botanicals!
