I have a confession to make … I’m a terrible cook. (I know, blasphemy on a cooking site.) But a girl’s still gotta eat, so I’m always on the lookout for great packaged (vegetarian) food offerings. Recently I discovered Pete’s Tofu 2 Go, “ready-to-eat tofu snacks,” in the refrigerated section of my local grocery store. The dessert tofus weren’t initially very appetizing—I tried Very Berry and Caramel, and found both to be a bit bland and way too watery—but they improved with each bite. I was pleasantly surprised by the savory option I tried, Sesame Ginger. The tofu by itself—seasoned with sesame seeds and ginger—was, like the desserts, pretty bland, but topped with the included “jazzed ginger soy sauce,” it was delish right out of the fridge. The product is both organic and kosher. And I’ve already gone back for seconds.
