summer staycation

With coronavirus making travel a tricky and even potentially dangerous prospect this year, we’re fully embracing the summer staycation. (It’s also cheaper than plane tickets and hotel rooms at the best of times!)

To help you do the same, we created this collection of transportive flavors and travel-inspired ideas from around the world, so you can take your tastebuds on a trip and give your mind a mini vacation while you’re still at home.

Online travel cooking classes, international bakeware, frozen Thai dessert, DIY sushi, a French blueberry clafoutis, West African ginjan, Peruvian pleasures, and Iranian stew are just some of what you’ll find below.

Our virtual itinerary is far from exhaustive—which is why we’ll be adding lots more to this list as the summer stretches on—but we’re sure you’ll find something you’ll love so much that you won’t even mind not being on vacation:

Anywhere tropical is a top summer vacation destination, so that’s where we’re going first—at least through food and decor that can evoke an island oasis in your own place.
