We are going through an unprecedented time right now. At work, at home, almost every facet of our lives is being impacted by coronavirus. The restaurant industry, in particular, is being hit like no other. We are only at the beginning at what looks to be the inevitable unfurling of the hospitality and service worlds, and it’s hard not to feel completely helpless (though there are certainly small ways you can help right now).

When I chatted with “Top Chef” judge and “Iron Chef Canada” host Gail Simmons recently, it was well before we knew anything about COVID-19. But her generous personality and passion for food, for restaurants, chefs, and all the rising stars, have always been there; it’s been woven into the fabric of her life over the last 20 years. Never has her dedication to the industry been more apparent.
