We’ve all probably heard the story at some point about the woman who was charged $250 for the recipe for Neiman-Marcus’s delicious chocolate chip cookies. The story’s been debunked, but it continues to make the rounds–in an endless chain of e-mail–along with a recipe. That recipe differs from the official Neiman-Marcus recipe in a crucial way that makes it far superior, say chowhounds: the fake recipe includes ground oatmeal. The recipe makes a huge batch of cookies (over 100), but you can always halve it.
