Costco is still stocking Skinny Freezer Vodka Martini Pops for 2019, and they have a new friend in tow: Skinny Freezer Wine Pops. Pick some up for your Labor Day celebration before they make like summer and disappear for another year.
Frozen booze is an amazing summer treat. Who doesn’t love strolling down the beach with a glass of frosé in hand? While we have some amazing tips and recipes for making your own slushy sangria and wine pops at home, sometimes it just takes too much time and effort. Who wants to wait all afternoon for their rosé (or margarita) to freeze? That’s where Costco comes in. When it’s too hot to head into the kitchen, just head to the giant wholesale store instead.
The next time you’re stocking up on eight gallons of mayonnaise and metric tons of steak, you may also want to throw a few Skinny Freezers in your cart. The squeezable vodka ice pops made by Slim Chillers come in a variety of martini flavors, which include cosmopolitan, watermelon lemonade, appletini, and lemon drop—plus, a new wine version for summer 2019. It’s a drink and dessert all in the same sip.
And don’t be turned off by the plastic packaging. After all, sometimes fancy cocktails are overrated. This is one of those times. These boozy, fruity pouches are easy to slurp and are reminiscent of childhood classics you downed during every pool party and summer sleepover. What better way to get a nostalgia fix with an adult twist? Just be sure to hide them from the kids and keep a secret stash to yourself.
As the name suggests, the best part is that each one contains only 100 calories, without skimping on any of the booze–they contain eight percent alcohol per serving. Not too shabby. But who are we kidding? No one is just having one of these things. There is just way too much novelty appeal to limit ourselves to a single serving. We fear they’re like Pringles–once you pop, the fun don’t stop. Uh oh, this could be dangerous.
Check to see if they’re available at a local store. (Note: Some Costco locations may have different brands of wine pops, like Claffey’s, which makes a version with orange wine! Basically, you never know what you might find in your Costco freezer section, but better check it out soon as summer melts away.)
