A great movie conjures a world so convincing you swear it’s real, at least until the closing credits roll. When they watch the Oscars this Sunday, February 24, the five ladies of CBS’s The Talk won’t just be fantasizing about this year’s nominees for Best Picture. Sheryl Underwood, Sara Gilbert, Sharon Osbourne, Aisha Tyler, and Julie Chen have selected the perfect CHOW recipes to evoke their favorite films of 2013.
This year’s Best Picture hopefuls are a distinguished bunch: Amour, Argo, Beasts of the Southern Wild, Django Unchained, Les Misérables, Life of Pi, Lincoln, Silver Linings Playbook, and Zero Dark Thirty. Read which movie each of the ladies will be rooting for, and follow the link to the CHOW recipe that goes with it! Let us know which film you hope wins, and don’t forget to tune into The Talk, weekdays at 2 p.m. ET, 1 p.m. PT/CT on CBS!
SHERYL UNDERWOOD: Beasts of the Southern Wild
Nothing evokes southern Louisiana quite like the heady classic cocktail named after New Orleans’s French Quarter, the Vieux Carré (above). Get the recipe>>
SARA GILBERT: Django Unchained
Quentin Tarantino’s fantasy of revenge and retribution calls for a sophisticated bourbon cocktail with an appropriately theatrical name: Touch of Evil (above). Get the recipe>>
JULIE CHEN: Argo
Ben Affleck’s hostage escape drama set in Iran finds its match in this equally compelling appetizer of Lamb Meatballs with Lemon-Cumin Yogurt (above). Get the recipe>>
AISHA TYLER: Beasts of the Southern Wild / Argo
Aisha’s loyalties are split between two films this year, but if these classic Cajun Boudin Ball appetizers (above) from New Orleans chef Donald Link are any indication, we’re guessing Beasts of the Southern Wild has a slight edge! Get the recipe>>
SHARON OSBOURNE: Argo
With a bowl of Baba Ghanoush—made with mild-tasting Asian eggplant, tahini, and lemon—and a stack of crisp pita chips for dipping, Sharon and her guests can snack and keep their eyes on the screen! Get the recipe>>
