This month’s pick is Jerusalem: A Cookbook by Yotam Ottolenghi and Sami Tamimi, published last fall. The authors are the partners behind London’s Ottolenghi prepared food shops and NOPI restaurant, and they’re Chowhound favorites: Their prior collaboration, Ottolenghi: The Cookbook and Ottolenghi’s solo effort, Plenty, are previous Cookbooks of the Month. In Jerusalem, the pair offer a modern spin on traditional recipes inspired by the local ingredients and ethnically diverse cuisine of their native city (Ottolenghi grew up in Jewish western Jerusalem, Tamimi in the Muslim east). In addition to a variety of vegetable, grain, meat, and fish recipes, there are chapters devoted to stuffed vegetables, savory pastries, and sweets.
