Malcolm Ruthven admits to not being an expert on Puerto Rican food, but he’s visited the San Rafael shop many times and recommends the pollo al horno, baked herb-marinated chicken thighs served with rice and beans.
vulber stopped into the FoodLab pop-up and liked the pollo al horno and coconut pudding, but dismissed the iced espresso (“like a watery Vietnamese coffee”). Overall the experience was good, but didn’t live up to the hype from fans of the San Rafael restaurant.
“It seems to have a bit of a cult following, which I don’t get,” vulber concludes.
