Another addition to the Scottsdale Waterfront is the Wildfish Seafood Grille (7135 E Camelback Rd, Scottsdale AZ).
I had an early dinner - showed up a little after 5pm. The hostess encouraged me to eat in the bar area and enjoy happy hour pricing. Even though the whole place is non-smoking, I didn't feel like eating in the bar area.
I had the Sauteed Alaskan Halibut with Tomato & Basil Fondue with Kalamata Olive Tapenade and a side of Steamed Asparagus with Hollandaise. There was no attempt to obscure the fact that the fish was very fresh and cooked to perfection. It was all very good. A fairly simple meal, executed well. The very crusty bread and butter was also worthy of mention.
For dessert, I had a Hot Chocolate Ice Cream Sundae. Again, simple vanilla with a hot chocolate sauce on the side and lightly candied walnuts. Really good.
Service was very good. The servers seem to work in teams of two. Both were pros. A manager-type also checked on me.
With tax, the bill came in just under $40.
This is owned by the same group that owns Eddie V's (20715 N Pima Rd, Scottsdale AZ). I haven't been to Eddie V's, but I heard they're clones. There were still some empty tables when I left, but, they seemed to be doing a good business, especially in the bar.
I thought Wildfish followed a pretty familiar formula, but pulled it off very well.
