My husband is on a veal chop mission. Many years ago, he felt that Da Mimmo's had the greatest veal chop. Now, I am in a time warp--but believe it was in the mid-1990's. That was the last time we dined there and don't even know why we haven't returned.
Of late, Hubby has slacked off of his usual dining out entree of lambchops and/or steak and has returned to THE VEAL CHOP.
Here are his (and my opinion)--Prime Rib. Yes, unbelievably huge and succulent. Perfectly grilled.
Second choice would be Sotto Sopra. Large portion, but the accompanying vegetables are the factor to push this in to the top favorite.
Fleming's has an excellent veal chop, but not spectacular compared to the first two choices.
Oregon Grille does farily well by their veal chop. We like the atmosphere and the Oysters Muir. This restaurant doesn't get much lovin', but the music is nice, service is above par--just needs to be tweaked to bring it up to very good to excellent.
Haven't delved into vealchops at any other place of late since this is Hubby's recent food fetish. It certainly isn't something I would attempt to prepare at home since I am not an accomplished cook. I stick to the basics that I am comfortable preparing and save the more elaborate meals for when we dine out about 3 or 4 times a week.
But, we are interested in broadening our horizons for the ultimate vealchop. As for me, I am into any entree with oysters. But, that is another subject. Happy Spring to all--FoiGras
