I went to Union with my family (parents, two younger brothers) on 6/12/04 and had a wonderful meal [ this was to celebrate graduating high school and turing 18 ]. To start with, it should be noted that one brother is eight and is not wholly open to new food objects - the staff was highly accomidating (he got pasta and fries). The rest of us ate the following:
Apps: Risotto (excellent, with shrimp that acutually tasted like shrimp), mussels (sublime), calimari (creamy texture with a minimal "bite" from the chilis) and the beef shortribs (their consumer was swooning).
Entrees: Rack of Lamb (huge portion, one of 4 was undercooked [ordered medium-rare] but otherwise exactly what I was after), 2x10k Tuna (ordered rare... just cooked on the outside and delicously tuna-y on the inside) and the Beef Tenderloin (its beef-loving orderer just loved it...I didn't get to try it, so I couldn't say).1 glass of Syrah was ordered.
Desserts: 2x 4 dessert sampler : Included the following : Lemon tart, "ice cream sandwich", (2x)Goat cheese cheesecake w/ strawberries, (2x)Maple syrup bread pudding, (x2) dark chocolate fondant, rhubarb sorbet, Bailyes ice cream, toasted marshmellow ice cream. 2 espressos, 2 coffees.
Wonderful meal... I think I would kill for a couple of their recipes.
Total damage: $247 (5 people, +drinks)... so around $300 with tip.
