Friday night, we went to Davis to get some dosa at Diva. (Say that three times fast!) We drove around and around looking for parking, and finally ended up all the way out at Powderhouse square. I spotted Tu y Yo across the street and remembered hearing about it here, so we gave up on Davis and went there instead. It was SO GOOD.
We started with mushroom sopes as an appetizer (a thick corn tortilla, crispy on the bottom, topped with a mushroom, onion, cheese, and parsley mixture). My husband had the snapper special, perfectly cooked fish with roasted tomatoes and onions on top. I had the chile relleno stuffed with goat cheese, shrimp, and crab, in a delicious red pepper sauce. We had the flan for dessert -- not bad, but I'd probably skip dessert next time. It was swimming in a cinnamony sauce that I wasn't crazy about.
The whole meal came to about $40. I thought the value for money was excellent -- if you wanted to stay on a budget, you could have a meal for two (entrees only) for about $25. And there's parking! We'll definitely go back. Thanks for the recommendation, Chowhounds!
