a while back DougK had recommended a tamale vendor at pratt and clark in Rogers park.
This weekend searching for christmas tamales we checked her products out and he was very right. We sampled the cheese (with tiny bits of roasted chile), chicken with salsa verde and pina (with raisins) all were great, moist and succulent - better than any I've had in a restaurant (with the possible exception of the guatemalan ones at cafe las delicias).
we also sampled the wares of the guy in front of the supermarket morelia further north. His, while quite good were not nearly as flavorful. Though he stays out a little longer.
Shes told us that she's there from 6am to about noon. Though she won't have any savory ones until after the new year unless you give her a call at home -Since we plan to do just that, I'll post the info from her card (which indicates that they are tamalaes guerrero style) when I have the card handy
Btw, we also enjoyed her champurrado better than the one noted in the reader from dona lolis. Dona lolis' was just too thick for me (though my wife liked it just fine) My daughter thought it was frijoles.
