I've got a visitor arriving in a few weeks who has never eaten soft shelled crab before but has requested that I treat her to some. So I'm looking for recommendations on places to test drive over the next couple weeks.
First, anyone know if the season has started yet?
From the thread below I found a strong rec for Louie's, which I'll check out for sure.
Last week I tried one at PPQ on Irving that was poor. Overly battered and otherwise tasteless.
It's been, oh, 7 or 8 years since my last visit for soft shelled crab at Le Soleil. Anybody tried it recently?
I'm hoping for places within SF, though I'm sure other readers would make use of recommendations for the greater bay area.
