This is a very tall order as I am trying to get together lunch (1-4 pmDecember 23rd) with a group of friends ... two of whom are NJ expatriates living abroad, and an Italian who basically doesn't like much besides Italian... but that's just too bad.
Yes, there will be kids (a one-year old and an EXTREMELY PICKY seven year old who will bring her own bag lunch no matter where we go). The mother of the seven year old loves Indian, but it will be a very hard sell with the rest of the adults unless there is something on the menu that is mild. (I know "doncha" hate that?).
Anyway, perusing the board I found several things that look good to ME. However, the question is, can these places accomodate a large group during an afternoon? Will they even be open? I know most ethnic eateries are child friendly, but are these places big enough? As of this writing lunch will consist of five adults and two kids...but who knows, this list could grow to seven adults and four kids!!
I am not familiar with South Plainfield (I used to live in Jersey City but now live in Philly). Therefore, most of these directions mean nothing to me. My friends who grew up in the area will understand them.
We definitely need to stick to the Edison/Plainfield area as our car may be severely overloaded...that remains to be seen.
I made a vow that I would never get dragged to Fridays or Bennigans again.
This is a very tall order I know. Below is the list of recs that I pillaged from this board.
