Okay, so we went here for lunch today when a sudden & irrepressible urge for Banh Mi came upon me. It was a first visit for both myself & mi dining compadre.
It was bright, shiny & clean w/ some pretty good steam table options (meatballs, red curry, spring rolls & a pretty wide selection of vietnamese desserts & buns)...but that's not what we came for. It was ALL about the Banh Mi! We opted for the grilled pork option & let me say...it was phenomenal! The meat was smoky, juicy & perfectly spiced, the veggies super crisp & fresh, & the bread freshly baked in-house. All this for...are you ready? $2.50!!!! I know! Can you believe it?
Once we bit into the sammies & realized how incredible they were, we HAD to try some other items. They offer rice flour crepes (sort of like a chow fun noodle) stuffed ground pork & black fungus & served with veggies & nuoc cham for $3.00. We also tried a yummy dessert soup of coconut milk, pandan, sweet potato & agar-agar squares, as well as a pork bun, both were $1.00 each.
Cheap, good food in a clean & friendly environment...I was beginning to think it was an unattainable dream!
Please, folks, we can't risk Sandwich Express closing it's doors. Get thee to the Sandwich Express posthaste! You will not be disappointed.
