Went to scout Sandia, a high-end Latin-Asian restaurant in 17th ST. near 6th Ave. (the site of the short-lived SnackBar). Didn't have high expectations, but was plesantly surprised. So-so croquettes, but tasty smoked whitefish taquitos and some sort of crispy tuna sushi. My whole snapper stuffed with fruit was really excellent and my pal's churrascao steak was pretty good.
If you miss the now-closed Patria, this may be a stop, because someone involved clearly worked there. I recognize a couple of things on their menu that's a straight lift from the Douglas Rodriguez playbook (or cookbook).
We weren't blown away, and at $20-$25 for entrees, it's certainly not as good as, say, Good (on Greenwich and 7th avenue.) But the space if beautiful and the vibe and music good. Not a destination, but worth it if you're in the neighborhood.
